Isidre Ribalta from the Carviresa winery, new president of the DO Costers del Segre.

He takes over from Tomàs Cusiné, after two years in office as agreed
Isidre Ribalta, manager of the Carviresa winery in Tàrrega, is the new president of the Costers del Segre Designation of Origin, after yesterday, Thursday, July 17, he took over from Tomás Cusiné two years into his second term. A change announced at the beginning of this second term of office of the outgoing president and which has been formalized today during the meeting of the Governing Board of the entity.
The new president thanked Tomás Cusiné for the work he has done, who will continue to be part of this Governing Board of the Regulatory Board.
Tomàs Cusiné was satisfied with the work carried out by the entire Regulatory Board during the six years he has been at the helm since he took over from the previous president Xavier Farré in 2019.
During Cusiné's term of office and a half, the Designation of Origin has increased promotional campaigns and actions, which in turn, have consolidated Costers del Segre wines as the second Catalan denomination with the highest monetary value per bottle, according to market studies. Likewise, the project to recover the Trobat red grape variety has been consolidated. A very advanced process that already has several harvests of experimental vinifications by a dozen wineries. All of them are researching what may be the best way to make this wine so that it identifies Lleida in the glass. In these years, the Regulatory Council has also implemented the new specifications of the DO Costers del Segre, as well as significant progress has been made in strengthening the territorial identity and the feeling of belonging to the DO.
Among the objectives set by the new president, Isidre Ribalta, is "to give more knowledge and notoriety to the DO Costers del Segre, first at home, but with special strength in the rest of the country and the world". Likewise, the new president declares that "we will work to maintain cohesion among the members of the denomination in these complicated days." Isidre Ribalta was born in Tàrrega in 1979 and graduated as an Agricultural Technical Engineer from the University of Lleida. Since 2002 he has managed different family farms, especially dedicated to cereals and fodder. In 2015, with the change of management at the head of Carviresa, a company also owned by his family, he assumed the management and modernization of the project. During these years, Ribalta has implemented improvements in the winery's production processes, as well as developing a commercial expansion strategy with new products, new marketing and two stores in Tàrrega and Barcelona
